5 PAID SICK DAYS FOR ALL CASUAL AND TEMPORARY STAFF (Posted May 5, 2022)

Amendments to  the Employment Standards Act stipulate that as  of April 1, 2022, all casual and temporary employees are entitled to 5 paid sick days per each calendar year. The WVMEA sent a Municipal Memo and School Board Memo to  members (via email) to ensure that everyone is informed. Any questions regarding the 5 paid sick days may be directed to the WVMEA office.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WINNERS (posted April 7, 2022)

A big congratulations to our WVMEA members, Sara Nik Nezhad from  from the School Board and John Lait form the Municipality!  They each won a $100 Door Prize at our our Annual General Meeting. In addition, five WVMEA members won $25 gift cards just for  following us on Instagram and Facebook. Our next meeting General Meeting will take place virtually on June 7, 2022.

A big congratulations to our WVMEA members, Ines Uemura from the Municipality and Elisabeth Thoma from the School Board!  Ines and Elisabeth each won a $100 Door Prize at our our General Meeting #5 on February 7,  2022. Our next meeting is the Annual General Meeting, which takes place on April 4, 2022.

WVMEA STAFFING UPDATE – NEW BUSINESS AGENT (posted January 31, 2022) 

A Staffing Update Notice has been emailed out to all our members today advising them of the appointment of a new Business Agent in the WVMEA office. We look forward to introducing Phyllis to our members at the next General Membership Meeting on February 7, 2022.

RATIFICATION AND RETRO PAY (posted November 30, 2021)

The Employer has finalized the Ratification. On December 3, 2021 all Municipality members will receive the 2% increase as well as retro pay to January 1, 2021.

RATIFICATION VOTE ON MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT (posted October 27, 2021)

In the recent bargaining sessions held between the Employer and the Union, we were successful in reaching a tentative roll-over agreement for 2021 and 2022.   We now need to vote on these agreements for the Municipal, Library and Police Civilian members.  Voting will take place next week at various locations as detailed in the Notice on Ratification Vote.  The Memorandum of Agreement are as follows:

A letter has been sent out today to all WVMEA members employed within the District of West Vancouver following the mandatory vaccination policy email which was sent out on October 26, 2021 to all employees.  Please take some time to read the WVMEA response to DWW Vaccination Policy.
