The WVMEA is pleased to announce that Alejandra Johnson has stepped forward to be the Shop Steward for those WVMEA members who are Police Civilian staff in the WVPD.

The Municipal Pension Plan continues to offer online learning for members.  Please see the Pension Notice just issued with regard to the courses on offer at the current time.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING  (posted February 3, 2021)

We had another excellent turnout at our General Membership meeting held online on Monday, February 1, 2021.  Congratulations to Yi Gao (Library) and Kendra Sakamoto (Library) who were the winners of our $100 door prizes.  Baseball caps will also be going out to Blaine Barden (Municipality) and Perfecto Labugen (School District).  Our next meeting will be our Annual General Meeting on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 5 pm.

2021 SCHOLARSHIPS (posted February 1, 2021)

We are pleased to announce that the WVMEA will be accepting applications this year for the WVMEA Academic Scholarship, the WVMEA Trades Scholarship and the Roy Hunter Memorial Scholarship for the Visual Arts.  Anyone interested in receiving an information package plus application forms should contact Sandra Stevenson at the Association office at info@wvmea.com or 604-925-7447.  The Scholarship Notice has been emailed to members and we will try to have it posted at some of the workplace sites where we have access.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS – LIBRARY/MUNICIPAL/POLICE MEMBERS (posted January 20, 2021)

The current Collective Agreements for the Library, Municipality and Police expired December 31, 2020.  Information has been sent out to members whose personal email we have on file about bargaining, as well as a Call for Proposals Form.  Deadline for submissions to our office is February 12, 2021.  These documents are available below:
