CALL FOR PROPOSALS (September 9, 2022)
The current Municipal Collective Agreement expires on December 31, 2022. The WVMEA reached out to Municipal members for input prior to beginning negotiations with a Call for Proposals Notice. Please contact the WVMEA office if you are a member and have not received the call for proposals forms.
RIGHT TO REFUSE UNSAFE WORK (September 8, 2022)
The WVMEA sent an important Health and Safety Bulletin to all members highlighting the WorkSafeBC amendments to the Right to Refuse Unsafe Work. Changes will now require employers to provide written notice of an unresolved work refusal to any worker subsequently assigned or allowed to perform that work, and to provide written notice of reassignment to the joint health and safety committee or a union representative.
STATUTORY HOLIDAY PAY DURING HOLIDAY BREAK FACILITY CLOSURES (posted August 15, 2022)
A Letter of Understanding was negotiated between the Corporation of the District of West Vancouver and the WVMEA to clarify the interpretation of article 11.02(d) of the Municipal Collective Agreement. Any day on which the Employer closes a workplace is not considered a working day. Therefore, permanent members receiving benefits, qualify for all Statutory Holiday pay during the closures. This does not apply to members receiving a percentage in lieu of benefits.
