This PAGE provides information for our Police members and visitors to this site. The Police bargaining unit consists of Civilian members working in a variety of functions within the Police setting, including Building Maintenance, and Clerical areas.

BARGAINING UPDATE (November 17, 2022)

The WVMEA provided Police members with a Bargaining Update.  We ask that members please contact the WVMEA office if they did not receive this correspondence.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS (September 9, 2022)

The current Police Collective Agreement expires on December 31, 2022. The WVMEA reached out to Police members for input prior to beginning negotiations with a Call for Proposals Notice . Please contact the WVMEA office if you are a member and have not received the call for proposals forms.

STATUTORY HOLIDAY PAY DURING HOLIDAY BREAK FACILITY CLOSURES (June 6, 2022)

A Letter of Understanding was negotiated between the West Vancouver Police Board and the WVMEA to clarify the interpretation of article 10.02(e) of the Police Civilians Collective Agreement.  Any day on which the Employer closes a workplace is not considered a working day. Therefore, permanent members receiving benefits qualify for all Statutory Holiday pay during the closures. This does not apply to members receiving a percentage in lieu of benefits.

NEW PILOT PROJECT (June, 2022)

A Letter of Understanding between the West Vancouver Police Board and the WVMEA details the terms of a new pilot project for third party background checks.  This pilot project is scheduled to end  on December 31, 2022

NEW SHOP STEWARD – POLICE CIVILIANS (May 27, 2022)

A Notice to Police Civilian Members announced our new Police Civilian Clerical Shop Steward, Trisha Noble. We would like to send a big thank you to Alejandra Johnson for her work on behalf of the WVPD, as the Shop Steward, as well as the WVMEA, as an Executive Board Members.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR SERVICE – POLICE CIVILIANS (April 19, 2022)

The West Vancouver Police Board and the WVMEA signed a Letter of Understanding to recognize prior service for the purpose of calculating regular vacation time. This understanding stipulates an amendment to Article 9 of the Police Collective Agreement.
